to reimagine India

At The Hind School, we are not just educators — we are architects of India's intellectual revival. Rooted in tradition, driven by inquiry, and united by purpose, we nurture a generation of scholars and leaders ready to carry Indian knowledge into the global future.

About Us

The Hind School is an independent school devoted to the emerging discipline of Applied India Studies. Anchored in India’s civilizational depth and responsive to contemporary challenges, the School offers transformative, applied programs that blend academic seriousness with public purpose. Based in New Delhi, our mission is to shape civic leaders and scholar-practitioners who study through India, not merely about it—bridging thought with applied civic action.

Who We Are

The Hind School envisions a world in which India is recognized not only as a geographical entity but as a profound lens through which to understand leadership, knowledge, and social transformation. Our vision is to establish India as a global framework for inquiry and impact by creating the world’s leading centre of excellence in Applied India Studies.

Our Vision

We are guided by our core commitments. First, Knowledge with Purpose anchors our belief that learning must serve the common good. Second, India as Method reflects our commitment to place India’s civilizational thought at the heart of inquiry. Lastly, Inclusion with Excellence ensures that access and merit are not oppositional but mutually reinforcing principles.

Our Philosophy

India, as a civilizational entity and democratic experiment, holds generative insights into questions of governance, ethics, pluralism, and sustainability. Applied India Studies is a new academic field that treats India as both subject and lens—bringing together classical knowledge systems with hands-on, applied civic engagement.

Through a unique combination of research, pedagogy, and cultural practice, The Hind School creates impactful intellectual initiatives, shaping public discourse and advancing Indian thought across diverse domains of knowledge, leadership, and global engagement.

Living Thoughtfully, Learning Together

The Everyday Life of a Hind Student

The Hind School is more than an academic institution. It is a community-run initiative shaped by scholars, cultural practitioners, and citizens committed to reimagining how India is studied, lived, and understood. Rooted in a spirit of shared responsibility and care, student life reflects the same values of collaboration, participation, and depth.

Students take part in cultural walks, visits to archives and ecological sites, and engage with craftspeople, thinkers, and grassroots institutions. These real-world experiences connect thought to context, theory to practice, and individual reflection to collective memory.

Students are not passive recipients of a curriculum—they co-shape it. They curate reading lists, plan community meals, organise seasonal festivals, and host public conversations. Through this involvement, they become part of the institution’s living structure.

At The Hind School, student life is an education in itself. It is thoughtful, grounded, and alive. It prepares students not only to think clearly, but to live with intention, curiosity, and a deep sense of belonging—to both tradition and the world.
